She turns to the robot; "Do you think that the mindless are being controlled by someone, or something?" Her voice is quite low.

"That is the most probable scenario. The mindless must be acting under some outside influence." Andromache pauses, and then says "Before you ask, we have no idea who or where, and the other intelligent would like me to inform you that you should have trusted "artificial" intelligence more."

"That wasn't my decision," points out Athena. "But there's no time to talk intelligence now; someday, I'm sure, we can discuss it over tea and crumpets. Right now, we need to find who may be controlling them. Do you have any suggestions?"

"We should find out what's happening in the north, and check the rest of the systems." Andromache puzzled for a second "What are all these doors and windows? They lead into walls."

"They're portals," explains Athena. "They lead to different places in Isaara."

"I believe that you should lead a group into the Marks Factory, a few miles northwest of here. A few of the intelligent, including me, would accompany you." Andromache continued to stand still.

"Then let's go." Athena slung her bag over one shoulder and gestured to a door.

Andromache walked to the door and opened it, "Are we bringing others?" He asked as he held the door open. "If so, it would be nice to know where we're going."

Athena blinked up at him. "To Marks Factory, of course." she said. "Shall we bring others, do you think?" She gestured to yet another door.

"Time is of the essence. If we can go there now, we should" Andromache closed the door he had opened and waited for Athena to do something.

"Come on, then!" says Athena, laughter creeping into her voice. "Let's go!" She grasps Andromache's hand, and pulls him through the door.

The duo enter Mark's Factory, the fourth largest factory controlled by the Silent Rose. They were in a room, about the size of a bedroom, and it looked like one as well. There was a bed in one corner, with a bedside table next to it. There was a chest at the foot of the bed, and a desk on the wall adjacent to it. On the opposite wall of the bed was a door, with a pseudo-coathanger next to it. There was a table adjacent to that, and opposite the desk, and a bookshelf next to the table.
"This place is very odd." Andromache said "It must be part of the overseer's quarters" Andromache looked around and then opened the chest, all he found was a bag of chalf dust and 2 peices. Andromache crushed the dust into a stick and handed it to Athena, then he made another, marked the door they had entered, and dropped the almost empty bag on the ground. Andromache nodded at Athena "You're lead, Archivist."

Athena opens the next door. The ceiling is very high, and domed. The walls are grey stone and metal, and clocks -- all stopped -- on the walls. It is empty except for a raised platform and a chest. She goes to open it, only to find that it is locked.

Andromache walks into the room and looks around, "Where did the gears go? I thought that they covered the entire ceiling of the factory." Andromache went up to the clocks, they were all stopped, and they all had different times. "Why would you set your clock to a different time than present?" Andromache looked at Athena as if she would know the answers to his questions.

"Maybe it's for a different place," says Athena, in a slightly strangled voice. "Help me open this chest?" she asks.
