Jack stops to turn and look at the young woman who is yelling at him. "Believe me when I say, this is not a fight you want to start,"

"Oh, and who might you be?" Esther snarls to the new arrival. "Because if you had ANY hand in Howl's death, you are going to pay thrice what he did. And so are you," she growls at Athena and the Shadow. "I don't care who the hell you are. I'll fight you to the death if that's what it takes to avenge him."

A crackling sound reverberates through the brains of those nearby. Some may recognize it as the Shadow sighing angrily.
"FOOL! Look at his wounds! An arrow and a spear, weapons neither of us carry."

"I am a Firestarter, we are at war with each other. But I do not believe in fighting pointless battles. I am not going to fight you," With that Jack turns and jumps out the window.

{Hm. That was stupid. I didn't realize a random Firestarter killed him, and I thought one of you guys did. How to fix this...}
"Coward," Esther hisses. She turns to Athena. "Who are you? Who are you talking to and who is Branwen? Tell me!"

Jack was finished with this battle. He quickly made his way away from the battle field, cutting down any soldier foolish enough to get in his way.

"Branwen should not be disobeyed," says Athena, in a low, yet still, somehow, childish voice. Turning to The Shadow, she adds, in a more normal tone of voice. "Branwen likes you." She closes the window.
Then, to Esther, she continues; "I don't want to tell you who I am," she says. Her voice is ice-cold.

"Who is this Branwen? Your invisible friend?" She spits the last word, barely restraining herself from running Athena through with her sword.

"Branwen doesn't like you," insisted Athena, as though she had already established this point.

"All right, that's wonderful. Now get this: I really could care less about this Branwen. Now, I could run you through with Strix..." Esther points her sword at Athena's chest. "Or I could let loose this magic and blow you from here to Timeheart...or you could let me go. Which will it be?"

The Shadow is rather confused by Athena's talk of Branwen and such things. He is almost ready to follow Jack when Athena closes the window on him. The Shadow is having a very unusual day. The Shadow thrives on routine. He is very unhappy and unable to use his regular method of solving his problems.
Massive violence is rather ineffective when the opponent can stop time.
He sits back down and watches the exchange between Athena and Esther.

Athena blinks. "I like the name Strix," she says, irrelevantly.

"Good. Strix likes you too." In the blink of an eye, a long line of blood appears on Athena's arm. Esther sheaths her sword and warns, "Don't try any of this Time Magic crap, or you'll have more scars on that pretty skin than you'd like." She bounds down the stairs and throws open the bright pink door.

Athena gasps, at the long red wound running up her arm. Skillfully, she opens her desk drawer with her toes, having done it many time before, where handy-dandy medical supplies are kept. Cradling her injured arm, she searches around for the salve, and then curses, which sounds odd in her voice.

Esther blinks. In front of her is a room full of parchment, quills, books and ink bottles. Metal cogs and wrenches lie on the floor. It's a closet. She flings open the green door. The only thing in it is a pipe with several elegant, colorful clothes hanging off it, and even more boxes of books on the floor. The blue door holds nothing but a few pictures hanging on the walls, which are too beautiful too look at. Esther shuts the door and turns to look at Athena. "Okay. Fine. You win. How do I get out of here?"
